Join us as we welcome Annabelle Chvostek for her first performance on the Net! She will showcase myriad talents, including guitar and mandolin. She will serenade us with songs from her newest jazz/folk/swing album “String of Pearls,” as well as music from her time with the Wailing’ Jennys Folk Group.
Popmatters.com says “Welcome to the wacky and wonderful world of singer-songwriter and cabaret singer Annabelle Chvostek, where one is in a Paris café listening to le jazz hot one minute only to get lost in a South American tango the next. She’s Edith Piaf one moment, Betty Boop the next.“
Bio:
Annabelle Chvostek is a Canadian singer-songwriter, composer, and producer whose musical achievements span multiple genres, from folk to jazz to indie-pop.
Her latest album String of Pearls is a cross-cultural collaboration between Canadian and Uruguayan musicians that pushes the boundaries between the worlds of Folk and Swing, evoking the grittiness of 1930s tango, Berlin cabaret, and Hot Club Jazz.
Annabelle has composed music for dance and film, co-written songs with Bruce Cockburn, and toured the globe as a member of The Wailin’ Jennys. Last year she was commissioned to create a solo cello piece by The Primavera Project for cellist Matt Haimovitz, which had its world premiere in April 2022 at the Venice Biennale.
